Are Seed Oils Toxic?

The concerns about seed oils appeared decades ago but more recently I have talked about a lot on social media is seed oils.

Seed oil haters are saying that they "contain high levels of omega-6 fatty acid". This is what "causes inflammation to the body".

🚫 Why this myth is unhelpful:

Over the last few years, several reviews of human studies have failed to identify any health concerns linked to consuming omega-6 in realistic doses.

There are many benefits of having omega-6 in the diet such as reducing the risk of heart disease and improving metabolic diabetes and type 2 diabetes.

Another issue I have is the language used about this food. “Toxic”. It is another label on food which causes stress, fear and anxiety.

One thing we do know that increases inflammation... stress. If you're constantly worrying about single foods or food groups - this will have an impact on your health. All sorts of conditions are linked to stress.

Plus seed oil is in so many foods, cutting them out would require a lot of time to read the labels of all your food products and look at labels for alternatives. And no one has time for that.

🌟 What you could do instead:

Rather than falling prey to fear-mongering, remember that people on social media are always looking for the next big food trend, the next magic bullet.

Whether it's something to add or remove from our diets to make all of our health problems disappear.

Unfollow these accounts on Instagram and thank me later!

Despite social media claims, there's no credible evidence linking omega-6 to inflammation. Stress, anxiety, and worry about food are more likely to cause inflammation than the foods you eat.
